Meeting new friends

The first arrivals of the dinner :)
Georg, Mahadi and Simeon
From Left, Giovanni and Noi
Nada and her son
Some chance encounters allowed me to meet some of the new PPRE students who are still doing their German language class as I did just before my course started last time.

I managed to participate in one of their gathering with foods from different countries!
It was a truly enjoyable time. And I think they would be enjoying their time more than I did during my time!

On the 1st September, I managed to combine my vacation with a visit to one of our suppliers so I would be in Germany for almost the whole month of Sept.

I managed also to meet 2 of my buddies from my masters degree program, David and Maksim. With us are my girlfriend, Hanna and Maksim's wife, Irina.

Nazdorvya (cheers in Russian, I hope the spelling is right!)

After 1.5 years in Germany, it was time to look for a job. Due to the fact that I got a good offer, I accepted my new job, that required my posting to Singapore. It was a bit difficult at first to be apart from my angel, but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, it has become more bearable now.

Work has been busy, therefore the pictures were actually taken sometime last year, I only have the time and the concentration to put it up now...

Boon, really nice and great that life seems full also on the other end!!! Really happy for you!! Take good care and hope to see you soon!! I am now in Germany until next week. Kwaheri "and" asanteh sana!! Dave

Rome... the eternal city...

I grew up reading and finding out of who the Romans were and what they did. They were the builders of Empires! They left their mark in almost every field they were in and especially in the buildings here in Rome...

It has been almost a year now that I have been in Germany. Life of a student is in the university, and then sometimes you go out... but me being a cancerian (zodiac sign, not the illness) prefers to stay at home most of the time.

Furthermore, eating out is sooooo bloody expensive that I have to stay home and cook. Of course, with teaching from mom and my own experimentation, cook books and of course learning from friends, I have been able to cook some food to entertain my friends and some housemates...

Here are some of my experience of staying in the hostels!

Some pictures of my rooms, and the kitchen and the friends that I have encountered

Dresden, Capitol of Saxony (a.k.a. Cultural capitol of Germany?)

The train ride... as you can see (read above)
Planning how to raise our tents
Voila! Our home for 4 nights...
View all 40 photos...
Travelling by train in Germany is not a cheap thing. And to travel cheap means train hopping. Starting from Kassel (another City which is halfway from Oldenburg to Dresden) we boarded our train at around 10.15am.

Almost every 2 hours, we had to change a train, meaning no one could sleep properly for long. Also, at this point, train means local train which are not meant for people to sleep or for couples to lie on each others' shoulder. Look at the first picture.

But enough talk about travelling, let me now talk a little about Dresden. Dresden is the capitol of Saxony, or in Deutsch, Sachsen. It is situated on the banks of the Elbe (River). It was utterly bombed in the 2nd World War, but as the Dresdners say "miracles is in the stones of Dresden (and it's people)" we were fortunate enough to see a well restored city.

Not only the city itself is an amazing view, the surrounding is also very beautiful. So beautiful that it was given the name Sächsiche Schweiz, or Saxon-Switzerland. We visited an ancient fortification named the Königstein or King's Stone. An impressive work of art and defense, practical defensive and yet artistic. It was the only defensive structure that was able to stave off Napoleon's army.

And then we visited the Bastei, which is a very interesting rock formation which was used as a defensive structure in the medieval age. By the way, the whole area of Saxon-Switzerland is an area of interesting geological formation of sandstones protruding from an otherwise flat landscape.

Some rock formations reminds me of Edoras, Kingdom of Rohan (the horse riding humans in Lord of the Rings).

Well, I hope you didn't get too bored reading this crap... Here, enjoy some of my pictures

Some 1.5 weeks ago, I found my angel, my love. Although, we have lived in the same flat for almost a year now, we only found each other last week, on the 18th May. I'm happy that she allows me to put our photos here.
